25 YEARS OF METAL(2)KERRANG!
From the birth of metal music in the early 80’s, ‘KERRANG!’ has begun to record the great process in words and picture. To be honest, I have never heard of the magazine before I came to Australia. I never really knew it until I got hold of special edition for 25th ceremony. The quarter-century history makes ‘K’ become one of the most respected rock magazines in the world and always keeps up with everything that’s going on during this period. Every band looks forward to seeing their face on the cover of magazine one day. In the special edition for celebration, elegant pictures and legendary articles recorded the entire process, and you will recall the beautiful metal history with it.
Paying homage to its past, giving a nod to its future, Roadrunner and KERRANG! have qualifications to do like this. They have achieved that lofty status which many others seek, yet never attain. Best wish for them; hope that metal music will spend the next 25 years with their supports.
25 YEARS OF METAL (1)
Like humans, an album, a magazine or a musical record also has its own birthday and different ways of celebrating.
Roadrunner
Last year, Roadrunner record(R/C), a heavy music record label, spent its 25th birthday. 25 years ago, R/C was only an unassuming Dutch import company who imported North American metal into Europe, but it has become one of the most innovative and famous metal record labels in the world today. Once mentioned about Roadrunner, you will think of many legendary bands, from the earliest King Diamond, Opeth and Death to today’s Slipknot, Fear Factory, Soulfly and Trivium. It was these bands that built today’s RC. Being different from other labels that released an elaborate box set, R/C came up with a brilliant and inventive way to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Firstly, they chose Dino Cazares (former guitarist of Fear Factory), Robert Flynn (singer of Machine Head), Matthew K. Heafy (vocalist of Trivium), and Joey Jordison (drummer of Slipknot) as the team captains. They were responsible for
writing songs and convened well-known Roadrunner musicians from different bands and musical backgrounds. They contributed their own styles and ideas into songs, thereby, produced a great heavy metal album. This CD was certain to be an excellent metal album. If you are a fanatic of heavy metal, this album will become one of your important collections. The CD still includes a bonus DVD that records how these great musicians completed the inventive process. You can feel these metal musician’s incredible instrument skills.
