Joe satriani, Steve vai and John Petrucci = extremely exciting
I finally got my hands on the ticket of G3, very excited now. At last, I have opportunity to watch the world-class guitar perform live, dream come true. Hahahahaha, Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Wed 6 Dec 2006 7:30, that day will be memorable in my life.
All started with Joe Satriani, who is one of the greatest guitarist in the world and deals with guitar teaching, his guitar style and technique influent many famous guitarist, Steve Vai is his most notable student, who has surpassed his teacher in some extent. Besides, Joe Satriani’s students also include Kirk Hammett (Metallica), David Bryson (Counting Crows), Kevin Cadogan (Third Eye Blind) and Larry LaLonde (Primus). In 1996, he created G3 with Steve Vai.
G3 is an almost annual live music show and guitar tour featuring three selected guitarists of the generation; From that date to now, G3 had the most guitar virtuosos on its tour, including Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, Robert Fripp, Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker, Adrian Legg and many other special virtuoso guests, including Steve Lukather, Steve Morse and many more guitar legends. Mike Portnoy, the multi-award winning drummer, was a special guest too.
John Petrucci is a virtuoso guitarist best known as a founding member of the progressive metal band Dream Theater. He is also the main producer (along with his band mate Mike Portnoy) of Dream Theater albums. In 2001 he was invited by Joe Satriani and Steve Vai to tour with them on the popular G3 guitar tour.
