Assessment criteria
My assignments include many aspects which developed my listening, speaking, reading and writing skill. For example, there is a lecture every Friday for us; we need to write a summary according to the content of lecture. Therefore I must take some notes in the lecture in order to complete it successfully. This assignment is very useful for me to improve my listening and stenograph skills.
Australia education has absolutely different assessment criteria from China. The highest score you can get is ‘4’, which means Excellent. ‘2’ means satisfactory and acceptable.
Each assignment is marked according to many facts. For instance, an argumentative essay, the tutor will check communicability (clarity of meaning), arguments & ideas (relevant, supported, developed, and cohesive), vocabulary (language structure), academic conventions and task fulfillment. Each part will be graded according to the rating scale described above. The final result is the average score.
In addition, tutors will give you comments about your assignment and point out the positives and negatives.
Tutors only point out your mistakes through some special signs, but they will not correct them for you. So you must correct mistakes such as tense, spell and so on by yourself. Only when you do not know how to correct it, you could consult your tutor about it. If questions are simple, he/she can help you solve after class. But if you encounter a difficult problem, you need to make an appointment.
